The Dragon Boat Festival

The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as the Duan Yang Festival, May Day. It is a traditional Chinese festival, on the fifth day of the fifth month in the lunar calendar every year. 


Before the Spring and Autumn Period, the Dragon Boat Festival is a festival of disease prevention and epidemic prevention. Later, due to the patriotic poet Qu Yuan's martyrdom on this day, it became a festival for Chinese people to pay tribute to Qu Yuan and honor the noble and clean feelings of the Chinese nation. 


Eating Zongzi, dragon boat racing, hanging artemisia calamus leaves, hanging lotus bags and tied five color silk thread, has become a common behavior of the Chinese people for Dragon Boat Festival. The Dragon Boat Festival is one of the national holidays and is listed on the world intangible cultural heritage list.
